David Benioff & D.B Weiss Leave Star Wars Trilogy!
Game of Thrones show runners David Benioff and D.B Weiss are no longer proceeding with their Star Wars trilogy. The Pair reported that “their enthusiasm for Star Wars remains boundless but, regrettably, their schedule is full up.”
They also had this to say “When George Lucas built it, he built us too. Getting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything. There are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects, so we are regretfully stepping away.”
It’s clear that they want to focus on their upcoming Netflix projects, as they signed a deal early this year reportedly worth $200 million. Some Game of Thrones fans might be relieved by this news, as D&D are infamously disliked for how Season 8 of Game of Thrones was handled, mainly the writing. Once their new Netflix shows get released we can finally see what they are capable of creating without any help, since Game of Thrones was their first big show.
