Bad Boys For Life: Worth Watching?

On the 17th of January 2020, Bad Boys For Life releases in cinema, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as the dysfunctional partnership. We haven’t had a bad boys film for 16 years, This movie seemed like it would never happen, there was rumours for years of bad boys 3 being made, much like Last Friday and Rush Hour 4, I didn’t think it would ever happen.

This movie comes at a difficult time in both actors careers, they haven’t had any real stand out performances in a while. Will Smith has been in some big titles such as Aladdin and Gemini Man but nothing that has brought him back to his best. Martin Lawrence has only been in three films since 2011, so this will be a massive return to the big screen for him.

Can They Reignite The Magic?

The original two movies had great story lines with a mixture of comedic scenes and action scenes, Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett had a very interesting relationship, they cared deeply abut each other but at the same time they couldn’t stand each other, which is what brought such a great dynamic between the two. Every time they were on screen together there was laughs to be had. It’s been so long since the last movie, I’m unsure if they will they have the same on screen chemistry, I’m sure there will still be funny moments between them but from the trailer alone, you can tell it has a different vibe and feels slightly out of place. I feel like we needed this movie a lot earlier and they left it to late. It could be seen as a revival attempt of both their careers or it simply could be seen as one more adventure with the duo we all love for a bit of fun.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the movie turns out, I expect it to be very enjoyable but nothing that will blow my mind. Lets hope for some more great scenes like this…
